Iron sulfide exists in all oilfield applications where oxygen and water reside. Left untreated, the iron can precipitate and interfere with the fluid system in stimulation applications. In production and pipeline applications, iron sulfide can significantly reduce production or flow, respectively. Our product is a mild organic acid primarily used in acid stimulation to control iron generated from breakdown acids. Our product is a reducing agent added to the treatment to reduce any iron (III) to iron (II) ions (ferric to ferrous) before they enter the formation. It also helps lower the pH level of the fluid, offsetting the effect of iron precipitation that can cause damage to the permeability of the formation.
