In unconventional shales, unstable formations consist of the sedimentary rock made from clay and other minerals. During the drilling phase, sloughing shales can cause caving of the formation or, in some instances, the equipment to get stuck.
 

We offer a series of proprietary cationic clay shale stabilizers designed to prevent swelling and migration of clay platelets and silica fines that may impede production.

Our product is completely soluble in freshwater and oilfield brines including salt water and calcium chloride brines. Treatment levels will vary based on the formation and those formations known to exhibit clay-damage issues will require laboratory evaluation for loading recommendations.
